Literary vs. Writing

Why should we care about literary texts?
We should care about literary text for several reasons. Literary texts are just another way of saying novels or poetry texts. Literary texts are important because they cover the major points in reading such as: genres, themes, characters, setting, plot, symbols, tone, and voice. Putting these terms to deeper meanings include author’s purpose, inferences, generalizations, drawing conclusions, main idea, and details. Night is a literary text that I read in 10th grade that has made my life rich. Having to learn about the struggles that the author went to during the Holocaust has given me new things in life to see and approach. Mr. Wiesel who sees him getting separated from his family and working in death camps is facing a struggle and hardship.

Which role can a Personal Learning Network (PLN) play in all of this?

The link I chose is related to a spring of hope. I can use this to understand hardships and struggles better because as I watch the video of Africans carrying a bucket and walking for a couple of hours to fetch a bucket of water; I feel that it is a struggle in their life. The children must bring back the water to their families so they can use for their own daily activities. I see that they are facing hardships and struggles to know the meaning of survival in their life.

How should you use your blog to understand literature better?
I should use my blog to understand literature better by paying close attention to my teacher’s lectures. By doing this, literature will eventually come to me and I can end up grasping the information from literature or texts.
